About Irena

Urban Sketching Artist

Irena Spector is a Tel Aviv-based urban sketching artist with a passion for capturing the world through ink and watercolor. Her work explores the character of cities — their streets, people, light, and stories — through the practice of sketching on location.

Born and trained as an artist, Irena discovered urban sketching as both a personal practice and a way of connecting with places and communities. Her sketches have taken her from the bustling markets of Tel Aviv to the traboules of Lyon, the tango streets of Buenos Aires, and the ancient village of Ein Karem.

As a teacher, Irena leads workshops and retreats around the world, sharing her love of observational drawing with sketchers of all levels. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in the joy of looking — of really seeing the world before putting pen to paper.

Irena is an active member of the international Urban Sketchers community, a contributor to Urban Sketchers blogs and publications, and a featured artist in Stephanie Bower's The World of Urban Sketching.

Her work has been published in collaboration with The Jerusalem Post and Yoffi Israel, and exhibited in group shows across Israel and internationally.
